Insights from Immersive Research:
In casual conversation, we talked about some of the recent events leading up to the start of the school year when we flew together from China to Sydney. The distance between China and Australia is very long and it takes about ten hours by plane, so before that, we discussed what we would need to bring with us on the plane to get through the long hours. My friend told me that she likes to listen to songs before she goes to bed, which helps her fall asleep quickly so that she doesn't get bored on the plane, so she almost always carries Bluetooth headphones with her. Because it helps her to listen to songs anytime and anywhere and it also has a noise canceling feature.

Engaging Research
 - What are the items you use most often?
 - When you buy something, what factors determine whether you buy or don't buy it?
 - If you lost your airpods, would you buy another one just like it?
 - I know the main reason you bought these airpods is because they have noise cancellation, but are there any other reasons?
 - If a new model of this headset were to come out soon, what features would you like to see upgraded?

Interview transcript:

Me: So, let's start the interview.

  Sophie: Ok.

Me: So, "What are the items you use most often"?

Sophie: Headphones. I use headphones every day when I sleep, when I walk and when I ride the bus.

Me: Well, actually, so am I. Except for sleeping. And "  When you buy something, what factors determine whether you buy or don't buy it?

  Sophie:  Practicality, price and brand.

Me: Ok, and "If you lost your airpods, would you buy another one just like it?"

Sophie: Yes, I will. Because my life can't go on without aripods.

Me: Hhhhhh, alright.  "I know the main reason you bought the airpods is because they have noise cancellation, but are there any other reasons?"

Sophie:  No other reason, not just because I can listen to songs, I find it noisy when there are a lot of people and I like a quiet environment, so noise canceling is the only thing I want from headphones.

Me: Okay, last question. “If a new model of this headset were to come out soon, what features would you like to see upgraded?”

Sophie:Fully noise canceled, makes me feel like I'm deaf, better range, I often forget to charge my headphones so I get annoyed when I can't use them outside.

Analysis of Engaging Research:

In conclusion, the results of the study gave me a clear understanding of what the user needed in the selected object, and the user clearly answered my questions and provided more useful information that will help me in the final redesign.
Sketched Ideas:
Description of each idea
1)Apple airpods case
Because users like this headset very much, so for this item designed a leather packaging shell, the material is a computer bag cut out, the outside is leather, feel feel more comfortable, the inside is plush fabric, better protection of the headset. In addition, the bottom of the headset shell added can be lanyard position, can be hung on the bag, to prevent loss.
2)  Pan mats
The inspiration for this came from the fact that the user has a wooden table at home, and sometimes the bottom of the pots and pans used for cooking can be very hot, so in order to prevent the table from being burned, a leather mat was designed.
The material was cut out of a computer bag to prevent the mat from being too thin, so two round pieces were cut out and pasted together.
3)  Card holder
In life, users will find that there are a lot of cards they need to use when they come to Australia, such as Opal card, student card, debit card and so on. So, we designed a card case to hold these cards and make it more convenient to use.
The material is also cut from the computer bag, simple, monochrome and minimalist. And on the back of the card case, a transparent plastic film cover is used so that users can put their favorite photos in it.

4)  Eyeglasses Cloth
This one takes into account that users need to use glasses in class, so it is designed to be more effective than ordinary eyeglasses cloths. The material is also derived from computer bags, with the leather on the front side used to erase harder stains, and the plush fabric on the reverse side used to erase dust.
5)  Purses
This one also takes into account the fact that users need a wallet as they use cash more often after coming to Sydney. The material is also derived from a computer bag.
6)  Refrigerator sticker
This user can be used to decorate the refrigerator, the material is also derived from the computer bag, because the leather of the computer bag has a large area, you can cut according to the shape of your favorite arbitrary cut.

College Work
Detailed College of Final Idea:
Description of Final College and Redesign

For the final redesign, I chose the third redesign idea because it was the most useful and innovative given the practicality and in terms of the redesign of the original object. Considering the loneliness of international students living alone outside, that's why I designed a transparent cover on the back of the card case, so that users can put their family photos or other favorite photos inside and see them every day.
Although in the interviews users said they used the headphones the most, I couldn't get the headphones to be perfect in terms of practicality, so I opted for a more practical card case.
